The Jonah Centre, Slieverue, Co. Kilkenny

The Jonah Special School is one of thirteen schools in Ireland which was recognised by the Department of Education and Skills in 2010.

Refurbishment works were undertaken to the entire 500m2 building, inlcuding roof works, external door and window replacement, new heating system, fire & safety upgrade works along with external site works. The electrical work involved re-routing floor boxes to accommodate the new furniture layout, installing hanging lights, and adding power outlets. Plumbing was also reworked, including the rerouting of hot, cold, and wastewater lines to serve the newly designed kitchen, and the decommissioning of the old sink.

Finishes to the building were carefully considered such as valves being hidden, the presence of sensory colours carefully choosen throughout the building and windows raised higher for safety of children attending The Jonah Centre. The project was completed to a high specification.
